Watch: The Scoreboard Is Fine

Granite helps Sweep read the end-number cards on a club scoreboard. Then try the practice game below.

The TV-style board

Columns are ends. Each box shows points scored in that end.

The club-style board

The fixed middle numbers are total points. A numbered card tells you which end brought the team to that total.

Blank ends: None yet

Granite’s shortcut

TV board: read across and add the end scores. Club board: find a team’s latest end card and look at the fixed points number in that column.

Hammer and blank-end notes

This example uses standard four-player curling. The team that scores throws first in the next end, so the other team has hammer. A steal means scoring without hammer. After a blank end, hammer stays with the same team.

Clubs differ in where they post blank-end cards. We use a separate blank-end tray here to keep them distinct from scoring cards. Number rows and team rows may be arranged differently on an actual club board.
